UNICEF promotes the rights and wellbeing of every child, in everything we do. Together with our partners, we work in 190 countries and territories to translate that commitment into practical action, focusing special effort on reaching the most vulnerable and excluded children, to the benefit of all children, everywhere.

UNICEF works internationally to alleviate child poverty in all its dimensions. UNICEF leads global efforts to address child poverty as part of the Sustainable Development Goals, and works with national governments, the UN and others to regularly collect and report disaggregated data of child poverty, including monetary and multidimensional measures.

UNICEF advocates for child poverty to be recognized as a global and national priority, and supports the design and implementation of policies and programming that address child poverty, including social protection and child-friendly budgets. UNICEF’s work is grounded in empirical data, rigorous research and thoughtful analysis. UNICEF works to address child poverty in all the world’s regions and produces the Innocenti Report Card Series focusing on the challenges that children in poverty face in industrialized countries.
